Dysport^® is a prescription injection with a chemical known as “botulinum toxin type A” serving as its main active ingredient. When introduced into a muscle, this chemical—known as a “neuromodulator”—works to curb contractions so that it stays relaxed for months at a time. Reduced muscle activity means the skin above won’t be pulled into noticeable lines and furrows.

Dysport^® was first approved by the FDA in 2009 as an effective and safe treatment for addressing frown lines between the eyebrows (technically known as glabellar lines). Since then, it has gained a reputation as a go-to solution for people who want a more youthful appearance without surgery or incisions.

Dysport^® is ideal for addressing glabellar lines, which, as noted above, are the frown lines or “11s” found between the eyebrows. Repeated muscle movements over time—such as squinting or frowning—contribute to the formation of these wrinkles.

While Dysport^® minimizes the appearance of these lines, it also still allows for natural facial expressions. In other words, you can still squint and frown and make all of the faces you would normally make. You simply won’t reveal frown lines when you do.

With Dysport^® chosen as the ideal approach, our physician-trained injectors skillfully administer the wrinkle relaxer directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines. We are very conservative with the injectable, preferring to “start small” as we seek to provide you with beautifully natural-looking results that can be adjusted and fine-tuned in the coming weeks.

The entire injection session usually takes about 15 minutes, making it a convenient option—even for those with busy lifestyles. The injections themselves will likely feel like what many people describe as a slight pinch. We work to maximize patient comfort for every treatment, but we are also happy to discuss additional techniques and strategies for patients who have concerns about needles.

Following a treatment session, patients may experience minor side effects such as mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites. These typically resolve on their own within a few days.

Patients can also expect visible improvements starting within two to three days after the treatment, with optimal results appearing at around two weeks.

We ask that all of our patients wait 14 days before seeking a touch up, just to be sure that the toxin has “kicked in” properly. At Fresh Faces Rx, touch ups to correct something like a “Spocked brow” are free.
